SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana track & field teams head to Aberdeen, South Dakota, Sunday for a dual meet against Northern State.
The Event
Northern State welcomes the Vikings for a dual meet this weekend. Field events start at 1 p.m. and running events slated for 3:30 p.m. inside the Barnett Center. The full schedule of events can be found here.
Last Time Out
The Vikings had a strong showing last weekend in Brookings, South Dakota, earning 26 marks that currently sit with the top-ten spots of the conference.
The highlight of the meet was junior Mearah Miedema's auto qualifying high jump at 5-9.25.
A large sample size in the women's 5,000m showed all seven runners entered running sub 18:00 times, which coincidentally are the top-seven times in the conference. Nicolette Schmidt led the group with a time of 17:46.88.
Also currently leading the NSIC is sophomore Callin Naddy in the 3,000m with a time of 10:15.86.
The women recently received a national ranking at No. 9 in USTFCCCA's week one national rating index.
On the men's, side sophomore Noah Melton and senior Tiegen Lindner hold the top-two spots in the conference in the 600m. Melton's quick time is 1:20:41 while Linder crossed the finishing tape in 1:21.97.
Also claiming the first two positions in the mile are senior Austin Miller and junior Matt Steiger.
Preseason Field Athlete of the Year Tyl Woelber has already cleared a new personal-best in the pole vault and has continued to reach season-best marks in the first two weekends of competition.
