INDIANAPOLIS – The Augustana women's basketball team made an appearance in the first NCAA Central Region Poll announced Wednesday. The first poll of the season is an "under consideration" for championship selection and listed in alphabetical order due to the disparity of games played this season.
Augustana is 9-4 on the season and owns wins over Concordia-St. Paul and USF who both appear in the rankings. Minnesota Duluth is also in the poll from the NSIC.
Final selections for the six-team regional will be announced at 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, on NCAA.com.
The 2021 Central Regional is hosted by Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Missouri. The quarterfinal round is slated for March 12 with the semifinals March 13 and regional championship slated for March 15. Winners advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Elite Eight in Columbus, Ohio, March 23-26.
The Vikings close out the regular season Friday and Saturday at Wayne State. A weekend sweep would ensure Augustana the NSIC South Division Championship.
