Augustana Track & Field Has Record-Setting Weekend

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Augustana track & field teams continue to have top marks. Three total school records were broken over the weekend. Two school records came in Allendale, Michigan, with Patty Jo English breaking the school record in the 5,000m running 16:20.53, Austin Miller broke the school record in the metric mile running 3:45.58. 

The final school record fell at the NSIC Outdoor Challenge in Mankato, Minnesota, where freshman Mathias Kollberg jumped to a new school record in the long jump with a leap of 25 feet.

In addition, the Vikings tallied or improved upon nine NCAA provisional qualifying marks over the two meets. 

GVSU Extra Weekend Meet

The women's 5,000m saw two times go under the school record. Following English's 16:20.53, sophomore Megan Means ran a new personal-best time of 16:24.96 as the two placed fifth and seventh, respectively.

Callin Naddy narrowly missed the provisional qualifying time in the 3,000m steeplechase placing third in the event in a time of 11:03.40

Behind Miller's first-place finish and school-record time in the 1,500m, senior Tiegen Lindner placed fifth in a time of 3:48.40 and Alec Kray placed sixth following closely in 3:48.56. The times are fourth and fifth on the Augustana's all-time list.

In the men's 5,000m, four Vikings ran under 14:30 with Henry Klitzke leading the charge in a time of 14:15.78. True freshman Ryan Hartman ran 14:18.72, Kray Person ran 14:23.58 and Matt Steiger ran 14:28.36. The tetrad's times all fall under the top-five spots all-time list.

NSIC Outdoor Challenge

The aforementioned Kollberg won the long jump with his school-record jump of 25-feet. The mark is an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark that currently sits the freshman third in the nation.

The NSIC Preseason Field Athlete of the Year, Tyl Woelber claimed victory in the javelin with a heave of 186-03.50. Woelber also had a new personal best in the 110m-hurdles running 14.93.

Mearah Miedema jumped a new season-best in the high jump winning the event in a provisional mark of 5-7.50.

Freshman Noa Marteau ran a personal best in the 400m-hurdles placing third in the event with a time of 1:02.64.

Augustana will close out the regular season returning to Mankato for the Maverick Invite next weekend.
