ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The Augustana track & field teams had two Vikings place within the top-10 in their respective events on the second day of the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Allendale, Michigan, on Friday.

Picking up where he left off yesterday, Tyl Woelber returned to compete in the final five events  in the decathlon.

The Viking began the 110m-hurdles in the wind and the rain, coming away with 777 points after running a time of 15.61.

He gained an additional 555 points in the discus throw..

Despite fighting an injury, Woelber secured points in the pole vault clearing 12-1.50 for 535 points.

Woelber then scored 605 points in the javelin throw, placing second in the event, with his throw of 167-7.

He then went into the final event of the decathlon, the 1,500m, in sixth place. However, his injury limited enough that he started the race but did not finish and tallied a total of 6,311 points to place 10th in the field.

Senior Rebekah Rairdon made her national meet debut as she placed ninth in the 3,000m steeplechase. She crossed the finish line in a time of 10:43.72.

The Vikings have two additional athletes competing in the final day of the championships Saturday. Mearah Miedema will compete in the high jump slated for 3:15 p.m. (CT) while Patty Jo English competes in the 5,000m at 5:45 p.m. (CT)
