Augustana Track & Field Lands Trio on CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Augustana senior Tiegen Lindner, senior Mearah Miedema and sophomore Patty Jo English have been named to the CoSIDA District 7 Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country teams announced Thursday.

Lindner, an exercise science major with a 4.00 GPA, had a successful senior campaign. During the indoor season, Lindner placed third in the 600m and fourth in the 800m at the NSIC Indoor Championships. He was also a part of the No. 3 all-time distance medley relay team that ran a time of 9:54.91. In the outdoor season, Lindner ran 3:48.40 good for No. 4 on the all-time list at Augustana. He scored points in both the 800m and 1,500m at the NSIC Outdoor Championships, placing sixth and eighth, respectively. He was also part of the distance medley relay that won the Drake Relays. 

Miedema, an art/education major with a 4.00 GPA, won the high jump at both the indoor and the outdoor NSIC Championships. She also had automatic NCAA qualifying jumps in the high jump for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. During the indoor season, she placed fourth at the national meet. In her outdoor campaign, Miedema broke the NSIC Outdoor Championships high jump record with a leap of 5-9.75.

English, a history/government double major with a 4.00 GPA, had a record-breaking year at Augustana. In the indoor season, English was a two-time All-American with her fifth-place finish in the mile and was part of the school record-breaking distance medley relay that placed fourth. She also won two events at the NSIC Indoor Championships, the 1,000m and mile. She captured the mile in a new school record time of 4:51.19. In the outdoor season, English placed 14th in the 5,000m at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. During the regular season, she broke the 5,000m school record running a time of 16:20.53. She also placed third in the 5K at the NSIC Outdoor Championships and was part of the distance medley relay team that won the Drake Relays.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-August.
