SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana track & field squads are set for a final tune-up before competing at the NSIC Championships Feb. 25-26. A small contingent of the distance squad will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska, for the Nebraska Tune-Up on Friday inside the Devaney Center. A more complete squad will be heading to Brookings, South Dakota, for the SDSU Last Chance meet on Saturday.
Friday's competition will start at 1 p.m. while Saturday's meet is slated for 12:30 p.m. Live results for both meets can be found at GoAugie.com/Live.
The distance group heading to the Nebraska Tune-Up will be looking for national qualifying standards in either the mile or the 3,000m.Â
Patty Jo English, Nicolette Schmidt and Ryan Hartman will be competing in the 3,000m.
The SDSU Last Chance Meet will primarily serve as a tune-up before the squads compete at the NSIC Indoor Championships.
Lawrence Lokonobei will look to lower his NCAA Provisional Qualifying time in the 60m hurdles.
Mearah Miedema will be competing in the high jump after hitting a season's-best mark of 5-5 last week at the SDSU Indoor Classic.
The NSIC Preseason Field Athlete of the Year, Tyl Woelber, will be back competing after having last weekend off.
Cami Streff and Caroline Sudbeck will be going down to the 600m after turning out personal-bests in the 800m at the SDSU Indoor Classic.
Last Time Out
The Vikings continued to build on an already successful season with the performances from the Gorilla Classic and SDSU Classic on Feb. 11-12.
The men's team turned out 12 performances that are within the top-10 marks in the NSIC. The women raked in 10 marks within the top-10 in the conference.
Among those performances, three Vikings are atop the field in their respective events. Alec Kray has the fastest 5,000m time in the conference (14:15.63), Austin Miller sits atop the conference in the mile (4:02.40) and on the women's side, Streff paces the NSIC in the 800m (2:09.61).
Additionally, both Miller and Streff's performances set new school records.
