SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Augustana track & field teams had another successful day at the oval office completing competitions at the Bison Open in Fargo, North Dakota, and the Ted Nelson Classic in Mankato, Minnesota, on Saturday.
Ted Nelson Classic
The Viking depth was on full display in the women's 3,000m with Augustana going 1-7 with a spread of 14 seconds. Cait Savey made her indoor debut claiming victory in a time of 10:14.02. Megan Means, also making her indoor debut, placed second running 10:15.90.
The duo were followed by Mia Salas (10:18.25), Rekebah Rairdon (10:18.63), Ana McCabe (10:19.73), Claire Boersma (10:25.45) and Ella Bakken (10:28.36).
The Vikings had a first and second-place finish in the mile between the men and women. Mallory Delmont won the women's mile in 5:12.12, running a personal best by about four seconds. Evan Johnson placed second in the men's mile running a time of 4:11.28.Â
Kaly Banks had a new personal best in the triple jump to win the event. Her mark of 37-10.00 ranks third on Augustana's Top-10 list.Â
Lawrence Lokonobei ran a season-best 8.16 in the 60m hurdle to win the event along with lowering his NCAA Provisional Qualifier. The time currently ranks him second within the NSIC.
Matthew Schoessow ran a season-best time of 50.89 in the 400m to place fourth in the race.
The Vikings had two third-place finishes in the 600m with Maia Peterson running 1:41.21 in the women's race along with Noah Melton improving on his 600m time this year in the men's race, running 1:23.58.
Molly Boyum improved on her 800m time this season, running 2:23.61 to place third overall, just shy of her personal best.
The Viking men claimed spots 2-6 in the 1,000m with Ryan Hartman pacing the group in a time of 2:25.60. Following him was Colten Brand (2:27.99), Matt Steiger (2:29.95), Jonah Breuer (2:30.30) and Beau Brock (2:46.26).
Hartman, Brand and Steiger currently rank 2-4 in the NSIC in the 1,000m.
On the women's side, Meagan Schenk had a runner-up finish in the women's 1000m running a personal best time of 2:55.46, currently ranking her second in the conference.
Gavin Fischer placed fourth in the 200m running a time of 22.59. His time ranks him 10th within the NSIC this season.
Bison Open
Tyl Woelber resumed the heptathlon with a second-place finish in the 60m hurdles running a time of 8.52 earning 855 points. He placed 11th in the pole vault clearing 11-01.75.
He was unable to race the 1,000m due to an injury in the pole vault, leaving him at 4,516 points and an eighth-place finish.
Woelber's personal best jump of 22-11.00 in the long jump last night was an NCAA Provisional Qualifying mark that currently ranks 17th in the nation.
Jonathan Sikel placed right behind him scoring a new personal best of 4,460 points.
Anna Schmidt continued her successful freshman campaign in the pole vault placing sixth clearing 11-00.25. Her mark moves her up to No. 5 on Augustana's Top-10 list, while also ranking ninth in the NSIC.

The Vikings will once again have a weekend of multiple meets next weekend. Augustana will be competing at the Gorilla Classic hosted by Pittsburg State on Friday and the Ichabod Invite hosted by Washburn on Saturday. Another contingent of the team will compete at the SDSU Classic hosted by South Dakota State on Friday and Saturday.
