SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--The NSIC Champion Augustana baseball team has been represented with five players earning First-Team All-Conference honors as well as the 2022 NSIC Pitcher of the Year and NSIC Coach of the Year.Â
Tanner Brown, Ryan Jares, Will Olson, Jordan Barth and Carter Howell have all earned First-Team All-NSIC honors while Caleb Saari and Jack Hines have earned Second-Team All-NSIC honors.

Head coach Tim Huber, in his 14th year at the helm of the program, has been named the 2022 NSIC Coach of the Year. Huber coached the Vikings to their second NSIC championship since taking charge of the program in 2009. The honor is the second of his career at Augustana and Tanner Brown is the fourth Viking to earn NSIC Pitcher of the Year honors.Â
Tanner Brown | Harrisburg, S.D.
Brown, a senior lefty from Harrisburg, South Dakota, sees a spot on the All-Conference First Team for the first time in his career. He leads Augustana as the all-time strikeout leader with 277 and is second in all-time pitching wins with 23.Â
The lefty also leads the NSIC with 93 strikeouts this season. He has the lowest ERA in the NSIC at 1.36, which is also the second lowest in DII baseball. Entering the NSIC Tournament this week, Brown's record sits at 7-1.
In total, Brown has been named the NSIC Pitcher of the Week three times in his career, with the most recent honor coming after the win over UMary which saw Brown break the strikeout record.Â
Ryan Jares | Windsor, Colo.
Jares, from Windsor, Colorado, earned first team honors for the second time in his career. The righty held a 7-2 record throughout the 2022 season, tossing 66.1 innings and making 11 starts on the mound. Jares has the eighth-lowest ERA in all of Division II at 1.90.
Jares started on the mound against Minnesota State last weekend, earning the win and helping the Vikings claim the 2022 NSIC regular season title. He spent eight innings on the mound and recorded eight strikeouts in the victory.
Will Olson | Omaha, Neb.
Olson has the fourth-highest batting average in the conference at .389 and has consistently been one of the top batters for the Vikings this season. This is his second time receiving First-Team All-NSIC honors and he earned Second-Team honors in 2019 as a sophomore.Â
The senior catcher has tallied 59 hits and hit 10 home runs this season at the plate. Behind the plate, Olson's fielding percentage sits at .985.
Jordan Barth | Cold Spring, Minn.
Barth is one of the most prolific players in Augustana baseball history and earns first-team honors for the third time in his career. The senior broke the all-time doubles record at Augustana with his 66th career double last weekend against Minnesota State.Â
In 2022, Barth is fifth in the NSIC with a .381 batting average. He leads the conference in hits with 74 and 194 at bats. Barth has totaled 313 hits at Augustana, seven shy of breaking his second career record of the season.Â
Carter Howell | Moorhead, Minn.
Howell earns First-Team All-NSIC honors for the second time in his career as a Viking. He has made starts in 49 games this season and holds the second spot in hits for the NSIC.
The Viking stole 20 bases in 22 attempts and notched 73 hits. Overall, Howell hit .402 this season with 54 runs scored, 11 doubles, two triples, 11 homers, 60 RBI, a .828 SLG% and a .449 OB%.
Caleb Saari | Moorhead, Minn.Â
The sophomore has earned all-conference honors for the first time in his career being named to the All-NSIC Second Team. Saari has an ERA of 2.14 and a record of 7-1 this season. The righty has appeared in 11 games while making nine starts on the mound.
Saari's 63 strikeouts rank him third on the Augustana pitching staff. His four complete games also rank him second for the Vikings, just behind Brown.Â
Jack Hines | Willowbrook, Ill.
Hines earned all-conference honors for the first time during his first year as a Vikings. The sophomore has made 35 starts for Augustana and has a .353 batting average.Â
Hines has tallied 42 hits, five doubles, one triple, six home runs and 26 RBI this season and was named the NSIC Player of the Week on May 2, 2022 after logging 14 RBI and 10 hits in five games that helped AU sweep Upper Iowa and Sioux Falls in the regular season.
