FARGO, N.D. – The Augustana indoor track & field squad spent its weekend at the Bison Open in Fargo, North Dakota, where the Vikings collected three provisional qualifying marks.
Kylee Sallee recorded her second provisional mark this season, Salle has one provisional mark in the pentathlon while picking up her second mark in the pentathlon long jump seeing a 5.69m distance. Elizabeth Schaefer and Andrew Martens each collected their second provisional mark in the 60 m hurdles.
Bison Open Day One
The Augustana distance squad caught its stride in the 1000 m run, seeing a first through sixth place finish for the women. Cami Streff recorded a first place finish with a time of 2:53.54. Patty Jo English and Nicolette Schmidt ran through the chute in second and third place. Mia Salas, Caroline Sudbeck and Iris Velting grasped fourth, fifth and sixth place collecting 36 total points in the event.
Sallee continues to see success in the pentathlon event. Sallee garnered a third place finish behind Kaitlyn McColly of Dickinson State and Nell Graham of North Dakota State. She recorded a total of 3525 points, seeing a first place finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.69m. The distance was her second provisional mark this season in the long jump event, while being her third provisional mark this season following her pentathlon provisional last weekend. Mackenzie Hemmer also saw success in the event with a sixth place finish with 3208 points which included a first place finish in the pentathlon shot put with a throw of 11.71m.
Bison Open Day Two
The men's 3000 m run opened the second day of competition for the Vikings. Augustana saw first and second place go to Evan Myran and Nick Larson. Myran garnered his first place finish running through the chute in a time of 8:43.45 while Larson recorded a second place finish in a time of 8:47.79. Myran collected a first place finish in the 3000 m run finishing in a time of 8:43.45. While Larson was close behind Myran finishing in a time of 8:47.79.
Elizabeth Schaefer and Andrew Martens each collected their second provisional mark of the season in the 60 m hurdles. Schaefer recorded a 8.87 time while Marten ran a time of 8.18, both in the prelims.
In the women's one mile, Velting garnered a first place finish with a time of 5:07.83. Lindsey Young and Taylor Melton were close behind Velting in second and third place. Young collected a second place finish in a time of 5:13.50 while Melton crossed the finish line in a time of 5:14.56.
For the men's one mile run, Colten Brand and Matt Steiger took home first and second place. Brand won the race crossing the finish line in a time of 4:13.31, while Steiger received second in a time of 4:15.16.

Augustana returns to action next weekend with split squads. One group will compete at the 8th Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg, Kansas, while the other will see action at the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings. Both meets will be held Feb. 10-11.
