SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--The Augustana baseball team plays host to UMary Wednesday for a doubleheader at Ronken Field. First pitch is slated for 1:30 p.m. The games were previously scheduled to take place at UMary, but weather shifted the series south to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

It's great baseball weather as the high on Wednesday is 80 degrees. At the time of the first pitch, the expected temperature is 77 degrees and sunny. Breezy and warm with the temperature approaching the record of 85 set in 1908 with plenty of sun can be expected on Wednesday.

Scouting the Marauders
UMary holds an overall record of 13-17 and an NSIC record of 6-9. The Marauders last saw action against Winona State, falling in the series 2-1. UMary has a trio of hitters on the squad that lead in several categories. Derek Shoen is hitting .412 and has totaled a team-leading 49 hits, 10 homers, 11 doubles and 36 RBI. Cal James holds a batting average of .349 and has logged 38 hits, 10 doubles, 24 RBI and is 4-of-4 on stolen base attempts. Rounding out the trio is Noah Hull who has a batting average of .312 with 29 hits, seven home runs and 17 RBI. On the mound, Jonathan Draheim has made six starts for the Marauders and leads the pitching staff with 23 strikeouts. Draheim has an ERA of 4.94 and a record of 2-2 on the hill.

The Vikings
Augustana is 25-13 overall in 2023 with a conference record of 14-4. The Vikings split with Northern State last week before sweeping Minnesota Crookston at Ronken Field last weekend. Augustana has successfully stolen 100 bases this season. Leading the charge is Nick Banowetz, who is 22-of-25 on stolen base attempts. Trevor Winterstein follows closely at 20-of-22 and Jack Hines is 15-of-15. At the plate, Hines, Banowetz, Winterstein, Drey Dirksen and Luke Ballweg have been impressive for the Vikings this season. Hines leads the lineup with a batting average of .393 and has totaled 48 hits, eight doubles and 22 RBI. Dirksen tops the team with 13 doubles, eight home runs and 36 RBI. Following with 10 doubles and two triples is Banowetz, who is hitting .364. Winterstein has a .324 batting average, 48 hits, five doubles, two triples, four home runs and 28 RBI. Ballweg has a batting average of .295 and has recorded 26 hits and eight doubles. Seth Miller was named the NSIC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season on Monday following a fantastic showing against Minnesota Crookston. Miller has amassed 56 strikeouts and has a record of 5-1. Caleb Saari is the Viking leader with 62 strikeouts and a 2.91 ERA, holding a record of 3-2 overall. Caleb Kranz has struck out 51 batters in 2023, has a 3-1 record and has spent 33.2 innings on the mound. 

One Last Thing
The Vikings are 24-2 all-time against the Marauders. In the team's last matchup in 2022, the Vikings were victorious with a final score of 19-2.
