WAVERLY, Iowa – The Augustana outdoor track & field team opened team competition at the Wartburg Outdoor Select hosted by Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa, on Sunday. The Vikings saw a handful of personal bests and NCAA division II qualifying marks at the meet highlighted by two event champions.Â
Ryan Hartman collected a first place finish in the 1500 meter run to open the day for the Vikings. Hartman crossed the finish line in a time of 3:54.86 recording both a personal best and provisional qualifying mark. Colten Brand and Matt Steiger rounded out the event both collecting provisional qualifying marks. Brand finished third clocking in a time of 2:56.20 followed by Steiger in fourth with a time of 3:56.23.Â
On the women's side, Mia Salas recorded a fourth place finish in the 1500 meter, crossing the finish line in a time of 4:34.68 to claim a personal best in the event.Â
Kylee Sallee garnered Augustana its second event win of the day through a first place finish in the long jump. Sallee recorded a provisional qualifying mark in the event with a distance of 5.87 meters.
Sallee was joined by teammates Lauren Merkley, Ella Heinitz and Lily Juhnke in the women's 4x100 relay, the quartet garnerd a second place finish with a time of 49.09.
In the 100 meter dash, Juhnke recorded a third place finish with a time of 12.29 to claim a personal best in the event.Â
Just a few short weeks after completing an All-America swimming campaign and earning the NSIC Swimmer of the Year, Bryn Greenwaldt collected a second place finish in the high jump. Greenwaldt tied with Sallee both jumping 1.60 meters. This was Greenwaldt's first ever collegiate meet.Â
Tacking on another NCAA division II provisional qualifying mark was Andrew Martens in the 110 meter hurdles. Martens claimed a second place finish in the event with a personal best time of 14.46. Lawrence Lokonobei recorded a fifth place finish in the event with a time of 14.71.Â
Elizabeth Schaefer made her mark in the hurdle events this afternoon. Claiming a third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles and a fourth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles. Schaefer was just a .15 seconds from tying her personal best in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.94. Following Schaefers performance in the 100 meter hurdles was Jayda Becker who recorded a seventh place finish clocking in a time of 15.36.Â
