SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--The Augustana baseball team gears up for a three-game series with the Upper Iowa Peacocks set for Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the Vikings are celebrating seniors and alumni of the program. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. Sunday's matchups include a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.

Scouting the Peacocks
Upper Iowa holds an overall record of 14-21 and a conference record of 10-14. The Peacocks defeated Concordia-St. Paul Tuesday in two games in their last time on the field. At the plate, Ethan Sawyer, Ryan Hull and Cael Luzum make up a trio of leaders for UIU. Sawyer is hitting .323 with 41 hits, eight doubles and 29 RBI. Hull is close behind with a batting average of .304 and 34 hits. Luzum rounds out the group of three with a .293 batting average and 29 hits. On the mound, Keaton Parker holds a record of 3-3 and has appeared in eight games while making seven starts. Parker's ERA is 6.03 and he had totaled 41 strikeouts. Parker enters the weekend having received NCBWA Central Region Pitcher of the Week honors for his performance against Wayne State earlier this season. Colin Lacey has made an impact on the mound for the Peacocks, striking out 28 batters. Jarrett Ramer has made eight starts for UIU, has an ERA of 7.61 and 30 strikeouts.
The Vikings
Augustana is 30-15 overall in 2023 with an NSIC record of 19-6. The Vikings were last in action against Sioux Falls on Thursday at Ronken Field. AU saw a series split against the Cougars, falling in game one but battling back in game two with a walk-off victory in the ninth inning. Augustana has successfully stolen 112 bases this season. Leading the charge is Nick Banowetz, who is 23-of-26 on stolen base attempts. Trevor Winterstein follows closely at 22-of-25 and Jack Hines is 16-of-16. At the plate, Hines, Banowetz, Winterstein, and Drey Dirksen have been impressive for the Vikings this season. Hines leads the lineup with a batting average of .367 and has totaled 54 hits, nine doubles, four triples and 26 RBI. Dirksen tops the team with 15 doubles, eight home runs and 38 RBI. Following with 11 doubles and two triples is Banowetz, who is hitting .336. Winterstein has a .301 batting average, 52 hits, five doubles, two triples, five home runs and 29 RBI. Seth Miller, a two-time NSIC pitcher of the week in 2023, has amassed 62 strikeouts and has a record of 6-1. Caleb Saari also has recorded 62 strikeouts and has a 2.91 ERA, holding a record of 3-2 overall. Caleb Kranz has struck out 68 batters in 2023, has a 4-1 record and has spent 45.2 innings on the mound. Adam Diedrich leads the nation and Viking pitching staff with nine saves this season.Â
