BROOKINGS, S.D. – Augustana men's and women's track and field competed across the nation in two premier indoor track meets on Friday and Saturday. The women's 4x400 meter relay team ran to a 10th place finish and the second-best time in school history amongst top Division I programs.
The Vikings take on Boston, Massachusetts
Augustana kicked off the weekend with a group of Vikings taking part in the BU David Hemry Valentine Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
Ana McCabe started the meet out with the seventh-best time in school history in the women's 5000m run with a time of 17:20.01.
The record books continued to be freshly inked as the women's 4x400 meter relay team of
Ella Heinitz,
Maia Peterson,
Caroline Sudbeck, and
Nyanas Kur ran to a 10th-place finish with an NCAA provisional time of 3:50.70 and marked as the second-best time in school history.
Kaja Salmonsen leaped to a seventh-place finish in the women's triple jump as she jumped to a mark of 11.59m
Peterson continued her great weekend with an NCAA provisional time of 56.58 in the women's 400m. Her run was good enough to sit second in school history, breaking her previous time by 24-tenths of a second.
Andrew Martens joined the action with a 12th-place finish in the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.35.
An invite to Brookings
Augustana also took part in the SDSU Indoor Classic on Friday and Saturday in Brookings, South Dakota.
Aubrey Surage highlighted the weekend with a second-place finish in the women's 5000m run with a time of 16:51.85, an NCAA provisional time and third-best time in school history.
Ella Bakken joined Surage with a fifth-place finish.
Erik Gundersen sported a sixth-place finish in the men's 5000m run as he ran to a time of 14:33.25 and an eighth-place spot in the school record books.
Brady Hogan,
Evan Myran, and Issac Fink finished just outside the top-10.
Ashley Overgaauw ran to the best team time all season in the women's 1 mile run and she raced to a time of 5:01.67.
Noa Marteau ran to a fifth-place finish in the women's 600m run with a time of 1:39.05.
Kylee Sallee finished just outside the top-10.
Lily Juhnke dashed to a 10th place finish in the women's 200m as she crossed the finish line with a time of 25.83.
Overgaauw continued her strong day with a fifth-place finish in the women's 1000m as she secured a time of 3:02.45.
Eleni Lovgren joined Overgaauw with a time of 3:03.74 and a seventh-place finish.

Augustana will partake in the SDSU Last Chance Invitational on Friday, Feb. 16 before gearing up for the NSIC Championships set to begin on Feb. 23.
