MANHEIM, Pa. – In the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II Poll, Augustana wrestling ranked eighth in the team standings with five individually rated wrestlers in the top-15.
In the Jan. 20 poll, the Vikings totaled 51.5 points and are one of four NSIC teams in the top 25, with all four placing in the top 15. St. Cloud State leads the rankings with 88.0 points, followed by Glenville State and Parkside tied for second (65.5 points), Nebraska-Kearney in fourth (65.0) and Central Oklahoma in fifth (64.5).
At 125 pounds,
Jaxson Rohman holds the No. 3 spot with an overall record of 4-3 this season. Since the latest rankings, Rohman went 3-1 at the NWCA National Duals, featuring a 19-4 tech fall over Orion Wilson of Grand Valley State, a 4-2 decision over No. 13 Colton Drousias and an 8-2 decision over Mason Gutenberger of UMary.
Cael Larson maintains his No. 2 rank at 149 with recent defeats of Brady Collins of UNK (MD 12-2) and Trae Thilmony of UMary (Dec. 11-9) at the NWCA National Duals. Following weekend action against Northern State and #1 St. Cloud State, the redshirt junior holds a 10-5 so far this season.
Connor Simmonds continues to climb the rankings, jumping from No. 15 to No. 6 at 157 pounds. The redshirt junior is 5-2 following a 3-0 showing at the NWCA National duals, defeating Maddox Simcoe of Grand Valley State, Cael Robb of Nebraska-Kearney and Lane Ewing of UMary.
No. 13 at 184 pounds is
Cade Mueller, who most recently took down No. 10 Bryce Fitzpatrick of St. Cloud State on Saturday and Damen Pape of Northern State on Friday. He also defeated Adam Sylvester of SMSU in the first bout of home action for the Vikings while accruing a 1-3 showing at the NWCA National Duals for a 12-5 overall record.
The final rated Viking is
Max Ramberg, who at 197, moved up at No. 4 after a weekend defeat of Tyson Lien (NSU) in a 24-7 tech fall on Friday. He is 14-3 on the year after putting on a dominant 4-0 showing at the NWCA National Duals, taking down two ranked opponents while collecting two decisions, one major decision and one sudden victory.
Augustana returns home for Alumni Weekend with two home duals inside the Elmen Center, hosting UMary at 7 p.m. on Friday and Minot State at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
