Vikings See Success, Earn Diving Qualifications At SMSU Quad

MARSHALL, Minn. - The Augustana swimming and diving teams took a trip to Southwest Minnesota State and dominated a quadrangular on Friday night at the Don Palm Natatorium.

Augustana 217.0, Northern State 64.0

In the Fast Lane 
- Ashley Peterson, Savanna Osowski, Anna Schmidt and Avery Schuh kicked off the night with a win in the 200 medley relay, leading a pack of three Viking relay groups at the top.
- On the men's side, Xander Smith, Logan Gustafson, Henry Lasher and Daniel Walker finished first in the 200 medley relay. 
- In the men's 200 free, Brady Monson led a pack of Vikings with a time of 1:50.33 to place first. 
- Smith took home his second victory of the night when he closed in on the 50 backstroke in 25.85. 
- Leona Coha finished 10 seconds in front of the closest non-AU competitor in the 200 butterfly, placing first with a time of 2:19.27. 
- Jack Johnson took the top time in the men's 200 butterfly, touching the wall in 2:01.29. 
- Another Smith victory came in the 50 free when he finished in 23.03. Lasher, Evan Bell and Daniel Walker slotted in the three spots behind him. 
- Lasher came back and earned a victory in the 100 free when he finished in 49.30 seconds. 
- Amaya Street and Sofia Hein had the top two times in the 500 free, finishing in 5:21.59 and 5:25.04 respectively. 
- Monson rounded out the Viking victories when he completed the 100 IM in 56.46 seconds. 

Off the Boards
- Avery Lommel has officially qualified for the NCAA Championships after hitting a school record 456.45 point total to place first in the 1m 11-dive. 
- Kate Robbins hit an NCAA Qualifying mark for the first time in her career. The senior from Chanhassen, Minnesota finished third in the 1m dive with an 11-round score of 415.90.
- David Binsfeld also smashed a qualifying point total with a school-record 474.55 in the 1m 11 dive to break his own record set in December. 
- In the 3m six dive, Lommel took first with 259.20 points and Robbins finished just behind her with 253.95 points.
