Bryn Greenwaldt put herself back among the best in DII while
Nesrine Jelliti and the 200 free relay team each repeated as NSIC champions on day three of the NSIC Championships. The Vikings continued stretching their lead over second-place Minnesota State, ballooning to 652 points while the Mavericks have 586.
Greenwaldt zoomed through the 100 back, hitting a 24.99 opening leg before finishing in 52.58. The number is nearly a full second better than her previous program record and broke the NSIC record while also earning an A cut time. It is the second fastest 100 back time in DII this season.Â
Joining her near the top of the podium was
Ella Ward-Zeller, whose 55.98 was a B cut and put her in third place.
Gracin Larson finished fifth in the A final, adding 14 points to the AU total after finishing in 57.17.Â
The Vikings added more dominance in the 100 breast. Jelliti finished in 1:02.27, just .01 seconds off her program record, to earn a B cut time and make her an NSIC Champion.Â
Ava Brogren also earned all-conference honors by finishing in third with a B cut time of 1:03.41.
Meesha Montgomery added to the Viking point total, placing sixth and earning 13 points with a time of 1:04.77.
In the 100 breast B final, Chan,
Anna Tindall and
Jisella Haskamp combined to earn 21.5 points, taking the top three spots in 1:04.76, 1:05.82 and 1:06.26, respectively.Â
The relay team of
Makoa Montgomery,
Angelina Chan,
Amaya Street and Greenwaldt tacked onto the relay dominance this week, hitting an NCAA qualifying time with a 1:32.28 time and first place finish.Â
The B final squad of Jelliti,
Abby Nelson,
Gracin Larson and Brogren also had success, winning the B final with a time of 1:35.89, a time that would have placed them fifth overall.Â
Maija Kangas reached the A final in the 500 free, earning 11 team points when she finished with a time of 5:10.11. In the B final,
Amaya Street collected six points when she closed in 5:14.20 while
Libby Breckon earned two points with a time of 5:19.65.
Two Vikings earned points in the 200 fly.
Leona Coha won the B final in a time of 2:12.90 while
Abby Nelson's 2:17.42 earned three points.
The final day of competition is slated for Saturday with prelims at 10 a.m., 1M diving at 1 p.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m. A win would give the Vikings three consecutive NSIC Championships in just their ninth year of existence.
