HOLLAND, Mich. – The Augustana men's swimming and diving team continued action at the GLIAC Championships Friday, breaking two more records and placing seventh with 162 points.
In the B Final of the 100 breast,
Mason Kauffeld buzzed with a B-cut time of 54.66, marking the second consecutive season in which he hit a qualifying time, while earning the B victory.
In the 800 free relay,
Collin Wilcynski,
Jackson Dircks,
Isaac Rokusek and
Matthew Pietsch claimed the top time in program history, teaming up to a tune of 6:50.39, earning 24 points and placing seventh.
Jackson Dircks earned a spot in the A final of the 100 backstroke while
Matthew Pietsch locked himself into position for points by earning a spot in the B final. Dircks earned 11 points by finishing eighth with a time of 49.51 while Pietsch earned five points and placed fourth in B with a 49.88.
Three Vikings earned points in the 200 fly, all in the B final.
Steven Asmus finished second in the race with a time of 1:51.38 to earn seven points. Bradley Infield added five points with a time of 1:51.85 and
Pedro Borin collected two more when he finished in 1:53.43.
In the 500 free prelim, Pietsch knocked off his own program record when he finished in 4:37.51, narrowly missing the cutoff for the finals.
The team is back in action Saturday with prelims for the final day starting at 9 a.m. The finals each night begin at 4:30 p.m. in Holland, Michigan.
