BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Augustana track and field team faced its toughest competition of the season thus far at the Jim Emmerich Invitational in Brookings, S.D. and performed well.
In track events,
Cortney Dowling and
Carina Hofmeister took fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 200-meters. Dowling finished with a time of 25.41, good for a personal high, and Hofmeister raced to a time of 25.52.
In the 60-meter hurdles, the Vikings had a student-athlete qualify for the finals in each race. On the women's side,
Olivia Montez Brown took sixth with a time of 8.82 and on the men's side,
Dylon Van't Hof finished eighth with a time of 8.63.
In middle distance,
Josh Barrows took 15th in the 400-meters with a personal best time of 50.38. Freshmen
Austin Miller and
Blake Savey, finished in 10th and 11th, respectively, in the 600-meters with each racing to personal best times. Miller logged a time of 1:25.59 and Savey finished with a time of 1:26.17.
The Vikings had a pair of relay teams finish in the top-10 of the 4x400 relay. The women's team of
Valerie Moos, Dowling, Montez Brown and
Brooke DeVos finished sixth with a season best time of 3:54.53. On the men's side,
Chris Sharpe, Barrows, Van't Hof and
Ryan Stiles took eighth with a time of 3:25.43.
In field events,
Christine Campbell took seventh in the high jump with a mark of 5-02.25.
Sara Heyn finished in eighth in the long jump with a leap of 16-08.75.
Next weekend, Augustana will travel to Mankato, Minn. for the two-day MSU Open held on Jan. 27-28.
