SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- The Augustana track & field teams have a busy weekend ahead with two relays heading to Pittsburg State on Friday and doubling back Saturday for a meet at Washburn University. The rest of the team makes its way to Brookings, South Dakota, on Saturday for the SDSU Indoor Classic.

The Events

The Jackrabbits of South Dakota State welcome the Vikings on Saturday. Field and running events are slated for 1 p.m. starts inside the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex. The full schedule of events can be found here.

Members of the distance squads will be traveling to the Sixth Annual Indoor Gorilla Classic hosted by Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kansas, to compete in the DMR inside the Robert W. Plaster Center. The members competing in the relays will also run in individual events the following day at the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, Kansas, hosted by Washburn.

Last Time Out

On the women's side, there were three NCAA Provisional marks between the mile and the pentathlon.

Sophomore Elizabeth Schaefer had her season debut in the pentathlon and placed second at the Bison Open scoring 3,842 points surpassing the score needed for a provisional mark.

Two milers, sophomore Patty Jo English and junior Nicolette Schmidt, finished 1-2 in the event at the Bison Open, both turning in provisional times in 4:57.62 and 4:57.65, respectively.

On the men's side, the Vikings had six NCAA Provisional marks coming from three different events.

Two provisional marks came from the mile in junior Evan Johnson and senior Austin Miller hitting times of 4:12.84 and 4:13.10.

Another strong distance was the 3,000m with senior Alec Kray and junior Henry Klitzke running to provisional times in 8:12.89 and 8:24.14, respectively.

Junior Tyl Woelber closed out the Bison Open hitting an NCAA Provisional qualifier in the heptathlon winning the event with a score of 5,334 points, just shy of his personal best and an auto qualifying mark. He earned NSIC Field Athlete of the Week honors for his performance.

One Last Thing

The Vikings currently hold six of the conference's 20 provisional qualifiers. Of those six is one of two conference auto qualifiers with junior Mearah Miedema's 5-9.25 high jump leap from the SDSU Jim Emmerich Invite.
