Derry logged his first major decision of the year with a 12-4 win against Chadron State setting up a strong weekend. In his first two bouts at the Dakota Wesleyan Open, Derry buried his opponents with 16-5 major decisions. In the quarterfinals, Derry racked up his third straight major decision, handing Dickinson State's Lane Oversen a 14-5 loss. Derry withdrew from the tournament after being matched up against an unattached Augustana wrestler in the semifinal bout.
