SIOUX FALLS, S.D.--No. 5 Augustana wrestling heads west to Mitchell, South Dakota, on Saturday for the DWU Open. The tournament, hosted by Dakota Wesleyan, includes wrestlers from 27 teams across the region.

The Vikings

Augustana comes off of the Yellowjacket Open last Saturday that saw four podium finishes and a total of eight wrestlers finishing in the top five in their weight classes. 

AU, nationally ranked at No. 5 in the NWCA Preseason Rankings, was selected to finish second in the NSIC. The Vikings have six wrestlers ranked nationally in the NWCA Preseason Poll. 

Miles Fitzgerald, competing at 157 pounds, placed second after going 2-1 at the Yellowjacket Open. Connor Simmonds also competed at 157 pounds for the Vikings and placed fifth at the tournament.

Jacob Tvinnereim competed in the 174-pound bracket for Augustana, placing third. Edward Hajas placed second at 285 pounds for the Vikings. Hajas was victorious in his first two matches at the tournament.

Following the DWU Open, the Vikings travel to Brookings, South Dakota, for a matchup against South Dakota State to begin their dual season on November 18th.
