Corbin Lacina anchored the offensive line of an Augustana football team that completed one of the most remarkable turnarounds in Augustana sports history. After a winless campaign in 1991, the 1992 football team went 8-3 and barely missed out on the NCAA Division II playoff picture.
After an outstanding senior season, Corbin earned a number of postseason awards. He was named to the All-North Central Conference first team, earned the league's most valuable lineman award, and was selected to three All-American teams. Corbin was also a team captain for the Vikings.
Following his college career, Corbin set his sights on professional football. He was just the second Augustana player selected in the National Football League draft when he was picked in the sixth round by the Buffalo Bills in 1993. An offensive lineman, he played 11 seasons of professional football with Buffalo, Carolina, Minnesota and Chicago.
Corbin started 80 of the 130 games he played at the professional level. He also played in AFC and NFC championship games and one Super Bowl. Two times he was named to the Muscle & Fitness All-NFL Strength Team.
A couple of games at Augustana stand out for Corbin, he wrote, "My senior year defeating UND on a goal line play that was run right behind me. Also defeating SDSU after a ‘Coach Freidel in your face' pregame session. I came out and dominated the line of scrimmage after launching their best defensive players."
Since retiring as a player, Corbin continued to work in the National Football League and has assisted with the offensive line and pro personnel with his hometown Minnesota Vikings.
