Melissa Olson Guebert enters the Hall of Fame her first year of eligibility. She is a 1987 magna cum laude graduate with a major in elementary education and an outstanding career on the basketball court.

Melissa grew up in Sioux Falls in a family of Augie grads. She wrote, "My most memorable event was signing my letter of intent to attend Augustana. I grew up with attending many Augustana basketball games with my family, and I was thrilled to be going to the school which had always been so special to my family."
"MO" is the only player in Augie basketball history to score 2,000 points. She tallied 2,001 points during her career to become South Dakota's all-time collegiate scorer. She set a North Central Conference record for most free throws in a game with 18, and another league record by making them in succession.
After 10 years she remains among the top ten in conference scoring with 967 points, in field goals with 357, and in free throws with 253. In 1986 she led the NCC in scoring of 21.9 points a game.
In 1987 she was fourth in NCAA Division II scoring with 23.6 points a game. On Augie's charts she is the single season scoring leader with 660 points, the single game scoring leader with 44 points, the single season leader in field goals with 262, and a the single season leader in free throws with 176 and for a career with 479. She is also third in steals with 236, fourth in assists with 373, and sixth in rebounds with 712.
Melissa is a three-time all-NCC choice and a two-time academic NCC honoree. She was named Academic All-America and also Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities in 1987. Also in 1987, she won the college female Honor Athlete Award sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletics and the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce.
