The three point shot was introduced to college basketball in 1986. Two years later, Jason Garrow arrived at Augustana and set long-range shooting records that stand
to this day. Jason was a prolific scorer in his four years at Augie. Currently he is fourth in career scoring with 1,704 points. He holds four career records at Augie, including the school record for points in a season (667), three pointers in a season (135) and career (298), and three point percentage for a season (47.7%).

Jason was selected to the All-NCC team in 1991 and 1992. He was also an Academic All-NCC selection three times, was voted the league's honor athlete in 1992, and received an NCAA postgraduate scholarship after his graduation. He also played a major role on a Viking team that won the NCC championship in 1989.

In 1989, Jason was part of an historic occasion, the opening of the Elmen Center. He wrote, "I remember the excitement of the first-ever game on campus at the Elmen Center against the University of Northern Colorado. That, coupled with a conference championship and an NCAA tournament bid, bring back fond memories. SDSU games were always well-hyped and exciting to play in."
