Hall of Fame
Student-athletes strive for victories, and Kyle Presler earned many as a wrestler at Augie.
Competing at 126 pounds, Kyle recorded a dual record of 11-0-0 in 1983-84 and a dual meet record of 17-0-0 in 1984-85. He also had 10 falls each of those years. He went undefeated for more than two years.
He was a two-time NCC champion, as he won the 126-pound title in both 1984 and 1985. He finished third at the NCAA-Division III nationals in 1984 and second at nationals in 1985. In both years he earned All-America honors.
Kyle's overall record in 1983-84 was 27-9-0 and in 1984-85, it was 42-7-0 for a career winning percentage of .812. He also earned Academic All-NCC and Academic All-America honors in 1985.
Kyle remembers that the "never ending practices with great friends like Dan Scott and Bart Wiley" were memorable events for him. From the classroom, Kyle acknowledged Richard English and Charles Christionson as professors who "support me in my studies as well as my wrestling career." He added, "The people at Augie are the best! Everyone was so supportive and friendly during my three years there." Kyle's work-study position was in the Huddle. He remembers, "The Ladies I worked with in the Huddle wanted me to have ice cream shakes while trying to make weight. They thought I was too skinny."
