Hall of Fame
Harvey transferred to Augustana after playing a season for his brother and coach Milt at Sioux Falls College. He lettered during the 1924 and 1925 seasons as a Viking under Coach Carl Anderson who enthusiastically endorsed his selection to the Hall of Fame. Following his graduation he went on to achieve a revered place in the memories of countless friends and admirers as a teacher, coach, friend and counselor. He died on March 18, 1959 after a brief illness. At the urging of the local citizenry the Princeton, MN school board named their new athletic complex the "John Harvey Memorial Field."
